Do you Craigslist? You should! Especially in bigger towns. But even in small towns like Harlan, you can find things for cheap! Or sell things and make some cash!
It's basically a free online classifieds ad. You can sell anything on there, and probably find about anything. I search for Harlan (the name of my town) to see what local people are selling. Or, if you're looking for something, check big cities that are close to you. You can arrange with people to pick items up next time you make a trip to town.
Tips:
1. People are hesitant to save things for you more than a day. A lot of people change their minds or don't show up to buy items. So be prepared. If you are selling, people back out a lot, so don't wait too long if you don't hear from them for a day.
2. Don't be afraid to barter with people. It's just like a garage sale. If you don't want to pay that much, make an offer. Especially if the post has been on there more than a few days.
3. Pictures are important. You never know what you're going to get unless you see it first. So buy items with pictures or put pictures on of items you want to sell.
4. Watch Daily!! Items go QUICK if they're priced right. Don't miss out!
5. If you have things you want to get rid of, you can post it as free, or just put items on your curb and list your address and people will come get it. (they'll take anything, even if it's broken!)
6. Advertise garage sales on here. It's not nearly as effective as the newspaper, but it's free and it won't hurt anything!
